For Ayr folk to decide its future, what we do with our town.
Aims and Objectives
ADT is a charity and registered company and our objective is to conserve Ayr and use our buildings for fresh purposes enhancing activities available and the quality of life of our citizens. It is also has a Letter of Compliance from the Scottish Government entitling it to use the Community Empowerment Act (2015) to apply to purchase or compulsory purchase historic buildings which are abandoned, neglected or detrimental. This is Community Right to Buy. The Community Asset Transfer section of the Act is what we would have to use to lease the land.
The Life that Ayr Deserves
Many buildings need to to be repurposed. With the support of our community and the money which is available from the Scottish Government through their Community Empowerment measures among others we could start improving our town and making it attractive again.
This was Ayr’s Tollbooth (pre 1800s), town jail and office of the Night Watch. Could this become a Library of Ayrshire’s radical history and struggle for people’s rights?
Our Future
The photographs have been chosen to show buildings which if renovated will improve the appearance of the town centre and provide social amenities. At the moment we are collecting signatures from residents of KA7 1 to evidence that we have support. It is you the residents who will decide what you want to happen here. We hope to have public meetings to see what you want going on in these buildings.
